This unit builds on PATH5516 Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Genetics and provides students with a sound knowledge and understanding of mutation detection including (1) methods of mutation analysis; (2) mutation scanning techniques for unknown variants; (3) mutation scanning techniques for known variants; and (4) instrumentation requirements for mutation detection.<br/><br/>The unit is designed to provide the practical knowledge on the instrumentation required and methods used to detect DNA mutations to the level required in a sophisticated tertiary molecular genetics laboratory setting and to supervise mutation detection analysis. -- Course Website
