This unit examines the general knowledge of the physiology of the respiratory system and the changes occurring during growth and development, with a particular focus on the infant and young child; the influence of differing anatomical structures on mechanical functioning of the respiratory system and methods used to assess this function; the principle of flow limitation and the application, assessment and limitations of this principle; the interactions between ventilation and diffusion and methods of assessing these physiological mechanisms; the principles of exercise physiology; and the interactions between the respiratory and cardiac systems and their resultant influence on ventilatory... -- Course Website

Prerequisites: a medicine, science or allied health degree. In line with University Policy, international students must have demonstrated competence in the English language. Students must have computer facilities and access to the Web from their location of study.
