This unit teaches students how to develop, conduct and present systematic reviews. Clinical practice is conducted within a framework of evidence-based medicine and as such systematic reviews form an essential component of clinical medicine. The unit is for students undertaking systematic reviews as their research by thesis component.<br/><br/>Topics include the history and role of systematic reviews in clinical medicine; planning the systematic review; the literature search; information retrieval; data extraction; statistical methods in meta-analysis; sources of bias in systematic reviews; interpreting the results; troubleshooting session; and student presentation of systematic review. -- Course Website
