This unit deals with the fundamentals of sound waves; interaction between sound waves and solid structures; noise and vibration measurement and control procedures; time domain, magnitude domain and frequency domain analysis techniques for noise and vibration signals; and noise and vibration as condition monitoring and diagnosis tools. Topics include sound waves; reflection, absorption and transmission of noise; noise measurement; noise control; environmental and occupational acoustics; and architectural acoustics. The generic attributes outlined in the unit aims are reinforced in lectures and practical case studies and specifically in assignments and laboratory work. -- Course Website
