This unit is an introduction to the creative solution of engineering design problems. The fundamentals of a successful design process are taught, as well as drawing techniques. Students work in groups to build a device as part of a design competition. They attend a lecture series, some of which are given by external professional design engineers. The lectures explain techniques in drawing, how to use drawing as a form of rapid and inexpensive prototyping, design process, and some basic manual construction techniques needed for the design competition. Students also attend classes in manual and computer-aided drawing. -- Course Website
