Operations research is the application of mathematical methods of optimisation and related areas to problems faced by organisations. This unit studies problems of planning, scheduling, truck routing, decision making and resource allocation. Applications include construction, mining, management, investments, pollution control, airline schedules, production, inventory control and manufacturing. This unit builds on MATH2224 Operations Research but tackles more advanced problems. Topics include integer programming, mixed integer programming, networks, dynamic programming, queuing theory, nonlinear optimisation, simulated annealing and genetic algorithms. -- Course Website
