This unit is a study of environmental law in Western Australia. As environmental law has only recently received professional and academic attention, no prior knowledge of the details of the subject matter of the unit is assumed. The unit examines the basic aims and guiding principles of environmental law; relevant common law principles and the nature of environmental dispute resolution; the constitutional and administrative framework for environmental regulation; various statutory regimes relating to environmental and natural resources planning and management in Western Australia; environmental impact assessment, criminal liabilities relating to pollution control, contaminated sites... -- Course Website
