This unit examines the general principles of the law relating to principal and agent, partnerships and joint ventures. It deals in particular with (1) agency—nature of agency and creation of the relationship of principal and agent; authority of agent; relations between principal and third party and between agent and third party; duties of agent towards principal and rights of agent against principal; (2) partnerships—nature of partnership; relations of partners to persons dealing with them; relations of partners to one another; and (3) joint ventures—nature and incidents; distinction between partnerships and joint ventures.
