This unit provides an introduction to criminology in Western Australia. It begins with an examination of the history of criminology and the main dimensions in criminological thinking. Students become aware of the major theories and positions taken in relation to understanding crime and its control. The unit also focuses on the major methodological problems in describing and explaining crime and criminal behaviour such as the definition and measurement of crime. -- Course Website
