This unit covers the general principles of international and interstate conflict of laws. It introduces students to legal issues arising in cases containing a foreign or interstate element. It deals with topics including the jurisdiction of Australian courts; when and why Australian courts exercise jurisdiction; the Australian complementary cross-vesting legislation; an introduction to theory and method in choice of law; choice of law in contract and tort. -- Course Website
