Selected themes in the history of Italian language and culture are studied through examination of literary texts—prose, poetry and/or drama—from the seventeenth century to the present. The unit consolidates the language competencies of students in writing, reading, listening and speaking Italian. It develops advanced understanding of the interaction of language, culture and society in selected periods of Italian history, through the study of literary texts representative of major cultural developments. -- Course Website
