This unit examines the historical, political and social processes of colonisation in Australia with a specific focus on four distinct northern areas of Western Australia—the Kimberley, Pilbara, Murchison and Gascoyne regions. The unit illustrates the global importance of these areas in terms of industry and tourism and how these often compete with obligations to land from local Aboriginal groups. -- Course Website
