This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit.<br/><br/>The pre-intern attachment in surgery consists of an eight-week program comprising surgery and anaesthesia, which may be based at one or more of nine public and private hospitals across the city.<br/><br/>During the clerkship, students attend regular ward rounds, outpatient clinics and operating theatre sessions. There is an opportunity to clerk a wide variety of patients. Students are expected to remain in the hospital after hours on occasion so that experience with surgical emergencies may be gained.
