This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. <br/><br/>The unit builds on the understanding of pathology taught at Level 3 with emphasis on clinical aspects of specific discipline areas, namely chemistry, haematology, immunology and genetics. Much of the teaching relates to the use of the pathology laboratory in the diagnosis and management of conditions within these areas of pathology. A laboratory demonstration accompanies each of the four teaching blocks in these disciplines and illustrates the links between the diagnostic laboratory and the patient.
