This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit.<br/><br/>Part 1 covers pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, genetic influences on drug disposition and action, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions and clinical trials. It introduces the actions of drugs that interact with adrenergic, cholinergic, serotonergic, nitergic and other receptor systems. <br/><br/>Part 2 proceeds through body systems in parallel with similarly sequenced courses in pathology and microbiology and links to teaching in clinical medicine.
