This unit provides students with an understanding of forensic pathology and the use of the necropsy. The unit covers the Coronial Act and the role of the Coroner; the use of forensic pathology in a criminal investigation; the use of the necropsy in establishing the cause of death and recognising how interacting pathophysiological processes contribute to patient morbidity and mortality. Students are exposed to histopathological diagnosis in the study of human disease.<br/><br/>The unit consists of one or more lectures per week on relevant topics of forensic pathology.
