This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. The unit is divided into eight modules covering (1) respiratory; (2) psychiatry; (3) neurology; (4) musculoskeletal; (5) cardiovascular; (6) gastrointestinal; (7) haematology/thyroid systems; and (8) chronic illness. Practical skills are developed in the clinical skills sessions and by general practice placements. Clinical skills are evaluated at the end of each module by continuous clinical assessment.
