With a complete sequence of the human genome now a reality, the role of genetics in clinical medicine is rapidly expanding. This unit consists of an introductory series of lectures that focus on the role of genetics in the diagnosis and management of an increasing number of diseases as well as an overview of basic molecular and analytical techniques. Students are required to write a review of a substantial bibliographic research project (3000 words). The completion of requirements for the unit may form the basis of future research projects. -- Course Website
