This unit reviews basic immunology and covers areas now at the forefront of research. Clinical issues presented include immunodeficiency, HIV medicine, allergy and autoimmune disease. The unit helps students develop a background understanding of the development and differentiation of the immune system and of the immune response in disease, which proves valuable in clinical work later in the medical course. Cellular and soluble mediators of immunoregulation are discussed. -- Course Website
