Oral pathology and oral medicine are taught in Level 3 and Level 4 units of the Bachelor of Dental Science course. They rely heavily on the foundation of knowledge laid down in the pre-clinical basic sciences and in other clinical disciplines. The subject requires a detailed understanding of anatomy and histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology, pathology, radiography and general medicine. This unit applies the principles learned in these disciplines to the detailed study of the orofacial tissues in health and disease.
