This unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit. <br/><br/>The unit is a continuation of the Level 2 theoretical and practical exercises and provides students with knowledge about basic growth and development. This knowledge serves as the foundation for students' clinical experiences in orthodontics. Initially students cover theories concerning the nature of craniofacial growth and how it is studied. Students learn timing, sequence and mechanisms of tooth formation and tooth eruption and what happens to the dental arches during the transition from primary to permanent dentition.
