Groundwater use leads to impacts, hence the importance for understanding these impacts and development of policies for sustainable use of groundwater. This unit explores the impacts of groundwater use on both aquifer systems themselves and dependant ecosystems through the use of advanced numerical techniques. Also given the linked nature of the hydrological cycle, competency in understanding the relevant surface water and unsaturated zone flow processes for groundwater evaluation is gained. Organic non-aqueous phase liquid contamination issues are also explored as these are crucial to sustainable land and water use practices. This practically focused unit is designed to give students the... -- Course Website
