This unit gives an introduction to the numerical and statistical analysis of engineering problems using the spreadsheet program Excel, the mathematical package Mathematica, and the MATLAB programming environment. Exercises are solved using techniques associated with numerical integration, search algorithms, relaxation schemes, root finding and linear algebra. The emphasis is on the modelling and solving of linear and nonlinear algebraic and differential equation systems, and statistical methods. -- Course Website
