This unit is taught from first principles and introduces students to the basics of cell biology and DNA analysis, and its application to investigations and the judicial system. Specific reference is made to the application of forensic DNA technology to prosecutions, defences and exonerations.<br/><br/>Practising industry professionals assist in the delivery of this unit and may include forensic biologists engaged in the analysis of DNA from crime scenes and defence lawyers specialising in DNA cases. Students have the opportunity to carry out laboratory DNA analysis themselves and are encouraged to comment and contribute from their own professional experience. -- Course Website
