Students work throughout the semester to plan and then write one or more pieces of creative work (fiction, poetry, or drama/script). They have their writing subjected to workshop critique in tutorials led by a tutor who is a published creative writer. The use of a range of techniques and strategies is explored through discussion of students' own writing and through examples from their reading. In addition, students are encouraged to read widely as a further important tool to develop their creative writing skills. The unit does not deal with journalism or non-fiction. -- Course Website
