This unit provides students with an overview of the legal issues which may affect them in their professional roles as educators in Australia. In particular, the unit provides (1) an overview of the legal principles of negligence and the liability of teachers for physical injuries to students; (2) an introduction to the basic principles of family law and consideration of their relevance to teachers; (3) a consideration of the impact of anti-discrimination law on education; and (4) an introduction to the law relating to educational malpractice. -- Course Website
