This unit provides students with an introduction to the characteristics of children and adolescents with exceptional needs. The range of disabilities and disorders encountered by teachers in special and mainstream settings is covered throughout the unit. Students develop an understanding of the educational, behavioural, social and emotional needs of children and adolescents with a disability and are able to program for their needs.
