The analysis of sedimentary basin fills is typically undertaken to interpret Earth history and/or for the exploration of basin-hosted resources such as petroleum reservoirs, groundwater aquifers and mineral deposits. This unit takes a basin-scale to regional approach to analysing basin fills through application of established sedimentological–stratigraphic and geophysical techniques.
