This is the first-year theory unit in Periodontics in the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry course. The unit is taken over two semesters and parts 1 and 2 must be completed to fulfil the requirements of the unit.<br/><br/>The unit comprises two distinct but inseparable parts: periodontology—the study of the periodontal tissues and their diseases; and periodontics—the application of periodontology to the clinical treatment and management of periodontal conditions and the interrelation with other clinical disciplines.
