This unit focuses on process dynamics, linear control systems, stability, frequency domain analysis, root locus method and compensation and synthesis of single variable systems. The unit also includes the concept of mechatronics, case studies, and a control project. Topics include (1) linear control systems; modelling dynamic and control systems; (2) stability criteria and methods to design system stability; (3) mechatronics; sensors, actuators, controller and dynamic systems, and their interactions; (4) frequency domain methods; root locus, Bode diagram, Nyquist plots; (5) position control; process control; PID compensation; and (6) feedback control; examples of feedback control systems. -- Course Website
