Students must enrol concurrently in parts 1 to 4 of this unit.

The unit comprises an advanced study of modern analytical instrumentation used for the elemental analysis protocols. The unit details methods of sample preparation, storage and both QA/QC and GLP protocols for analytical laboratories. These topics are designed primarily to provide students with a deeper understanding of the use of equipment, ensuring analytical quality control and both designing experiments and interpreting analytical data. The strengths and weaknesses of the techniques are detailed. Laboratory work includes a small research project. -- Course Website
