This unit introduces students to the kinds of artefacts encountered in maritime archaeology, including the ship itself. As one of the larger types of artefacts found in maritime archaeological context, ships’ components, construction methods and means of propulsion are explored. The unit also discusses the management of maritime archaeological artefacts including associated museology. Students demonstrate their applied understanding of these topics through submitted practicals, tutorial discussion, an essay and an examination. -- Course Website
