Honours in Archaeology prepares students for a career as a professional archaeologist. This unit introduces students to the professional settings and aspects in which archaeologists are commonly involved, from higher degree research, government agencies, consulting firms, museums and the heritage sector. Students meet weekly to consider professional activities and the practical, legislative and ethical aspects of these. Set literature and other forms of information are read by the students, and discussed weekly, often with visiting professionals. Students are assessed on their annotated reading list and a major essay reviewing ethical issues related to professional practice. -- Course Website

Prerequisites: Students must have completed a major in Archaeology. The prerequisite entry into the Archaeology honours program is at least 65 per cent in the Level 3 units of the Archaeology major.
