This Level 3 unit studies the course of European prehistory from the appearance of agricultural practices to the establishment of the use of metal. This time period is traditionally divided into the periods of the Neolithic and the Bronze Ages. The unit examines the social and cultural changes that are related to the adoption of farming and animal husbandry by European societies and the consequences for hunting and gathering people. It further considers the variability of these processes throughout the continent.
