This unit discusses architectural design in relation to environmental performances of buildings in urban and landscape environments, the environmental crisis and sustainable designs. It introduces the student to efficient and effective thermal, lighting and acoustic design concepts and specific analytical techniques and design methods used in the design of buildings and urban environments. It also discusses material and resource optimisation, alternative energy and material resources, and the impact of environment on social quality of life. -- Course Website
