This unit explores the integration of structures and services in large-scale buildings. The vehicles for this are design projects where students design a part of a large building, undertake an analysis of its primary structure using computer modelling software and, with the assistance of structural consultants, prepare a set of working details, and produce a model of their design revealing both its spatial qualities and the interaction of the structure, cladding and service networks.
