This unit consists of six modules:<br/><br/>Module 1—history, anatomy and neurobiology of sleep: <br/>(a) summarise the social, scientific and medical history of sleep and sleep research; <br/>(b) describe the importance and function of sleep; <br/>(c) recognise the causes and consequences of acute and chronic sleep deprivation and sleep loss on mental and physical performance;<br/>(d) understand the factors which lead to good sleep hygiene;<br/>(e) explain the electrophysiological characteristics of normal sleep stages in humans; <br/>(f) explain normal sleep architecture in humans; <br/>(g) contrast sleep behaviour and architecture in humans to other species;<br/>(h) outline the impact... -- Course Website
