This course has replaced SOCY1010/1020. Drawing upon sociological theories and concepts, this introductory course provides an overview of the process of change affecting social life in Australia and globally. Central to many of these trends is globalisation and we examine its impacts upon a range of issues at both the global and local levels. Topics include: class and inequality race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality and the media, celebrities and sport. -- Course Website
