This course will provide students with the opportunity to gain indepth knowledge of the theoretical and research basis of current issues in the field of cognitive neuroscience. Topics to be covered include a history and overview of approaches to understanding brain/behaviour relationships; neural mechanisms underlying selective attention, including pathologies of attentional processes (spatial neglect, simultanagnosia, ADHD); characteristics of conscious versus unconscious perception; neural mechanisms underlying multisensory interactions, including syndromes of anomalous multisensory perception (eg synaesthesia); brain processes involved in face recognition and facial expression... -- Course Website
