The purpose of this course is to provide non-biology students with a broad-ranging understanding of evolutionary concepts, and some aspects of genetics and ecology, and how these underpin many issues of general importance to modern human society. Examples of some of the important issues to be discussed include the effects of humans¿ harvesting of natural species, whether species will be able to adapt to climate change, human diets and the obesity crisis, the evolution of aging, why human mating systems and sex ratios vary around the world, how biodiversity is created by evolution and how it can be useful to humans (biodiscovery) and how biotechnology can help ensure food security and... -- Course Website
