ARCA3100 critically evaluates key debates in world prehistory based on 200 years of archaeological research, including current understandings of human evolution and dispersals, the origins of agriculture and sedentism, the development of complex societies and urban states as well as ancient sustainability and past reactions to extreme climate change. Students explore these issues via critical readings and discussion with experts in the field through a series of case studies drawing on recent archaeological and interdisciplinary studies from around the world. -- Course Website
