Subject Area: Chinese Studies<br/><br/>Using texts of literature, philosophy, critical theory, and intellectual history, supplemented by films of both Western and Chinese origin, this course will examine both how the Chinese are imagined and portrayed by Western culture, how the Chinese depict themselves, the interaction of this “depicting China” discourse in both literary and popular culture and its significance both for the East and West. -- Course Website
