This unit provides an introduction to mining in a holistic way. It outlines the concept of the mine of the future in relation to technology, automation and innovation, teamwork and interaction with the community and the environment leading to modern mining projects that minimize their environmental footprint. The unit will describe the life cycle of a mine, mining methods, mine ventilation and safety, mineral processing, support infrastructure requirements, introduction to risk management and the roles and responsibility of a mining engineer. -- Course Website
