This unit builds on the introductory unit LAW7019 European Union law and policy. It focuses on elements of the European Union that are of most interest to external actors. Key topics examined in this unit are: introduction to the institutions: key European Union organs and external affairs the Common Foreign and Security Policy: practice unbridled by law the competence of the European Union to enter into international agreements and the residual authority of its member states the Common Commercial Policy and the European Union in the international trading system the External Human Rights Policy of the European Union and its impact on commerce. -- Course Website
