This unit examines the origin, nature and operation of Asian legal systems. A general overview of these systems, including sources of law and legal institutions, is followed by a closer examination of the legal system of at least one Asian country.<br/>Legal pluralism will provide the conceptual framework for the course. In depth coverage of one Asian country will concentrate on significant legal topics, such as constitutional and administrative law, criminal law, commercial law, trade and investment law, legal institutions and the local legal profession. -- Course Website
