Unit explores the introduction of mentoring initiatives in organisations as a vehicle to support work related learning and development. Students will be introduced to different approaches and conceptual frameworks for considering mentoring, and the relationship between mentoring and the context in which it is located. It also provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively design and implement a workplace mentoring project. Students are given an opportunity to critically evaluate mentoring and to consider its merits in relation to other approaches to building workplace or occupational knowledges.
