This unit provides an introduction to the process of design and innovation with particular reference to medical technology. The design, development and manufacture of medical technology are covered, taking into consideration safety and effectiveness issues, regulatory and legal issues, the patient equipment interface and the hospital or medical environment in which the equipment is to be used.
