In this unit students will be introduced the principles of electromagnetism and wave propagation of wireless and guided waves based on the use of Maxwell's equations to analyse of more complicated structures such as radio frequency (RF) transmission lines, plane interfaces, optical waveguides and optical fibres, antenna and cylindrical metallic waveguides. Students will then apply these wave propagation principles to examine the practical issues of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) including: interference and coupling mechanisms, RF circuit layout and grounding, interfaces, filtering and shielding and EMC measurement techniques. -- Course Website
