This unit provides an introduction to the important aspects of modern telecommunication systems. Particular emphasis is given to digital communication systems including the internet. The concept of layered architectures will be introduced. Topics will include modulation techniques, source and error coding, multiplexing, peer to peer protocols, LAN protocols, packet switching, TCP/IP architecture and network security. -- Course Website
