The central objective of the unit is to help students understand the relationships between media, culture and society, that is, how media influence and are influenced by social, economic, historical, political and cultural factors in society. It introduces students to how media content is produced, distributed and consumed and also examines the ways in which power and influence are exercised through media in cultural and social life. It also includes introduces the concept of 'new media', and the interplay between youth culture and the media. -- Course Website
